Quick and easy to attach, lower and retrieve

After you have anchored your boat and you are sure the anchor is holding securely, stretch out your rope or chain (to make it easier to reach) and lower your Anchor Buddy as shown below.
When you want to move your vessel, put the boat in slow reverse to stretch out the anchor line (in case it has sat in a heap on the seabed) and retrieve the Anchor Buddy anchor weight with its own rope, before you bring the anchor up.

NOTE: every so often, the Buddywarp can twist around the rope or chain. This is not to alarm you, but it is good to know that sometimes it can twist. There is no pattern when it does. In 16 years of use, it has happened when we are anchored in deep water, shallow water, when it is blowing hard or not. In NZ it has been a maximum of three twists and they are always in a clockwise direction! You can still bring the unit up to the bow easily with the chain stretched out. You will see how many twists there are as it is coming up to the bow. Simply take the Buddywarp under the chain or rope between the bollard and the bow roller in the opposite direction. Give it a good pull to free it, then take off the unit as normal.

Model AB30 for boats 30 to 60+ft with rope anchoring, is shown here.

AB30 Anchor Buddy anchor weight being put on rope rode on our boat DJANGO

If you make sure the rope (or chain if you have all chain) is stretched out, it is very easy to reach over the bow to put the Anchor Buddy on. You may need to put the boat in slow reverse to do this. You can also put the unit on on the deck and feed it over the bow roller. On some boats, because of the bow configuration, you may need to put the unit on from the dinghy.

Locking lever should be on your left.

Twist the Anchor Buddy onto the rope (or chain) If the locking lever is facing the anchor, it is on correctly.

The locking lever needs to be fully closed to keep the rope (or chain) in the channel.

Lower the Anchor Buddy with the Buddywarp. See how the angle of pull on the anchor, is changing. If you place it just off the seabed at low tide, then secure it, it will be off the seabed at all stages of the tide. It is most effective like this.
